I live close to the peaceful, wooded source of Maryland's Rock Creek. Ironically, it inspired the troubling violence I depict in "Insurrection's" ascendance of America's first dictator. It is also the inspiration for "Letters from Blitz," a novel about a dog's journey on which I'm working.
My academics did not prepare me for this writing adventure. The Bachelor's on Politics and Public Affairs, Master's in Management, and a second Master's in National Security Strategy prepared me for my stint in the army and the subsequent diplomatic career. What I lived during those years molded my world and my novels.
After learning to kill people and break things I spent a lifetime trying to make friends for the USA in the 32 countries my job took me. The lies I told in five languages gave me a base on which to build believable fiction. But nothing prepared me to write the story of a dog I loved. I'm in the second year of crying over my keyboard.
As a voracious reader myself, I respect the reader's intelligence and feelings. I think of each of them as friends I want to keep.
